Join the Movement: Empowering Bakers, Supporting Farmers
Welcome to my directory—a powerful tool designed to connect bakers directly with farmers, millers, and each other. This isn’t just about sharing resources; it’s about igniting a movement. By building these connections, we aren’t just changing the way we bake; we’re transforming the entire food system.
Be Part of the Change
When I teach people to bake, I’m not merely passing on techniques—I’m helping them become food activists. Baking sourdough becomes a radical act of change, a way to challenge and shift eating behaviours for the better. Our Baking as Lifestyle Medicine Protocol isn’t just a framework; it’s a call to action. It’s about integrating political and ethical values into our daily practices. One of the most profound ways we can tackle food inequalities is by supporting collective, grassroots efforts to build alternative food networks (AFNs).
Our community is more than just a group of bakers; it’s a social movement. We are united by a common goal: to challenge and disrupt the structures that perpetuate inequality in our food system.
Empowerment Through Connection
We’ve created a new system that democratises the way flour is produced, how we incorporate diversity into our diets, and ultimately, how we support our gut and mental health. Understanding the impact of bread on our health is the first step, but the real power lies in knowing that the quality and ethics of your bread start with the choices you make—and the connections you foster.
One of the most powerful ways to shift the balance of food inequality is by building direct relationships with farmers. These are the people who grow our food, often within a system dominated by large corporations that control seeds and, by extension, our food supply. By supporting seed activism and advocating for farmers’ rights to seed sovereignty, we can help ensure that our food system remains diverse, resilient, and sustainable.
Farmers: The Heart of Our Movement
Farmers are the lifeblood of our food system. They do more than provide us with food—they are the guardians of our soil, water, and wildlife. They sustain rural economies and preserve the very ecosystems that make our planet habitable. Yet, they face enormous challenges: rising costs, climate change, and the pressures of a market dominated by a few powerful entities.
