Studies show there is a link between food and mental health. A diet lacking in some essential nutrients can contribute to poor mental health, including anxiety and depression. Nutritional psychiatry treats mental health issues through food and dietary supplements to rebalance and support mental wellbeing.
This is a relatively new field of research, but one which is now being applied in the treatment of some mental health conditions. The importance of nutrition and the role of the gut microbiome in supporting good mental health is becoming clearer , and why we place such an emphasis on the way we teach Baking as Lifestyle Medicine, (BALM) as being about the wear you bake, cook and eat your your bread and baked goods. Our Symbiotic eating recipes are full of amazing recipes with foods that nourish you to enjoy your bread with. We also have lectures in The Club from some of the worlds leading experts in Nutritional Psychiatry Professor Felice Jacka.
